What to do/Places to go

Out & About

If you choose to stay on The Lizard Peninsular you will be in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), one of only 46 designated areas in the UK. It is designated an exceptional landscape whose distinctive character and natural beauty are precious enough to be safeguarded in the national interest.  So clearly the beaches, coves, coastal paths, river inlets, harbours and villages are a must see during your visit. But along with the natural wonders there are also a vast range of other places to visit - here are a few of our recommendations.

Local Attractions

Flambards - Since 1976 Flambards has been visited by millions of people, enjoying not only the thrills of the rides but also the indoor attractions such as Britain in the Blitz and the Victorian Village.

Poldark Mine - a favourite of mine as a kid.  Visit a real life tin mine and find out what all those large chimney stacks around Cornwall were for.

Gweek Seal Sanctuary - The seal sanctuary has been rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing seals back to the wild for many years and is a great day out.

Chocolate - The chocolate and craft centre in Mullion is really nice local attraction and it's not all about amazing chocolates.

Cornish Life - the museum of Cornish life is a free museum showing off the history of our beautiful county.

Other Attractions

The Minnack Theatre - possibly the most beautiful setting for a theatre in the world. Even if you don't see a performance a tour of the theatre is a must.

The Eden Project - The world famous Biomes built in old china clay pits near St Austell.

St Michael's Mount - Explore the castle, gardens, church and the village. But be careful you don't stay too long and get your feet wet.

The Tate and Barbara Hepworth - St Ives is on most people's itinerary when visiting Cornwall and a trip to the Tate and Barbara Hepworth Garden and Sculpture Museum is an art lover's dream.

Trebah Gardens, The Lost Garden's of Heligan - two of the best gardens in Cornwall. Truly stunning gardens.
